The Book of Aron – A Book Review

Thank you for sharing!

The Book of Aron, a novel by Jim Shepard

It has been months since I have been able to make time to sit down and read.    Although, I should be working on some new projects for the blog, yesterday I headed to the library instead.  I quickly found 4 books by authors that I typically read and on my way to check out, a small book caught my eye.

“The Book of Aron”  by Jim Shepard was sitting on the new release shelf and I picked it up and read the jacket cover and added it to my pile to check out.

When I got home, it was the first book I picked up to read.

‘The Book of Aron’ is a fictional book about the children of the Warsaw Ghetto and the amazing Dr. Janusz Korczak as head of the orphanage there during World War II.

The horror of war and the Holocaust becomes an engrossing tale told in a first person narrative from the point of view of a Jewish child.

I read the entire 251 page book in one sitting.  Now, let me say that it is not unusual for me to read a book cover to cover in one sitting, but when I closed the book, it is one that I know will stay with me for a long, long time.

I do recommend this book as a very worthy read.  Although heartbreaking at times, it reminds us that our troubles that sometime seem so overwhelming, are nothing compared to the plight of those who have suffered and those who continue to suffer during the atrocities of war.

Have you read this book?  I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.

I will put it on my list. Have you read "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas"? A small book with a big message.
