Giving candy for Valentine’s Day is a fun tradition. Today we are sharing an easy Rae Dunn Inspired Gift Jar that takes hardly any time at all to put together. The Rae Dunn dish collection is so popular right now. I’ve got my eye on more than a few pieces, don’t you?
Glass jars, especially the ones with a screw-top lid are perfect for this project. I believe our glass jar held jelly in its former life. This type of jar is great because it doesn’t have raised words like a mason jar, not to mention that we are up-cycling too. It’s super easy to make this Rae Dunn Inspired Valentine Gift Jar for gift giving this Valentine’s Day, so follow along and see just how easy this really is.
Supplies Used for our Rae Dunn Inspired Valentine Gift Jar
In addition to a glass jar, I used two of my favorite Rust-Oleum spray paints for this project, along with a pretty red ribbon and a black marker. I would have used a Sharpie marker, but alas, my Sharpie was bone dry. I substituted an EK Tools marker that I found at Target. These markers work well for a project like this because the markers come in various size tips making it easy to find one that writes with a fine thin line.
The jar was spray painted with two coats of gloss white. Allow each coat to dry fully. The lid received one coat of a black semi-gloss.
I admit that I am not the best with hand lettering, something I intend to work on, but I gave it a go free style. I wrote the word “Sweets” with tall letters. It’s not perfect, hence the need to work on my hand lettering, but I like it anyway.
To finish off the jar, I filled it with chocolate hearts and tied a simple red bow around the top to dress it up a little for Valentine’s Day.
