Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so today we are sharing some very simple handmade Valentines. I love beautiful Hallmark cards full of wonderful sentiments, but wow! They are getting pretty pricey. With all the crafting I do, I have not yet delved into all the awesome paper crafts, including card making. That being said, I have no special ‘card-making’ skills or tools available other than a few sheets of white card stock and a pair of scissors.
As I sat down to make these cards, my idea was to make something very easy that anyone could do. Sure, I could have embellished these cards with ribbons, buttons, beads and glitter, but instead I grabbed a tray of watercolors and decided that this year – simple was better.
I purchased a small set of watercolor paints with the intention learning more about the proper way to use them last fall. So much for my self-study as I hadn’t even opened the box yet! If you can’t tell from my simple Valentines, I have quite a way to go in exploring the fine art of watercolor!
No matter. I had fun and isn’t that the point? Below are my 3 cards, showing the front and the inside caption for each. I’m sure you can get more creative than I did!
The point to all this is, don’t go crazy – unless you want to. Try your hand at a simple card, save a few dollars and enjoy your time together! These cards go great with the Rae Dunn Inspired Valentine Gift Jar I posted the other day. Hope you all have a lovely Valentine’s Day with your loved ones!
